Business Foundation Setup

Turning Side Work into a REAL business?
Mixing Personal and Business Finances?
Trying to get Organized?

Most contractors don’t struggle because they can’t do the work.
They struggle because nobody taught them how to run the business behind it.

We help small contractors and new business owners build the foundation they need to operate professionally, stay organized, and avoid the common mistakes that create chaos later.
You Build the Job.
We Build the Business.
How We Can Help
You're breaking out on your own. You've got the skills. But the business side is unclear.
Â
We get you set up correctly from day one. So you don't spend the next two years fixing what should have been right the first time.
Business Setup
We walk you through getting your business set up correctly:
-
LLC Formation & Filings
-
EIN Registration
-
Banking Setup & Guidance
-
Credit Cards & Credit Lines
-
Insurance Guidance

This alone prevents a ton of future mess.
Personal liability, tax issues, - the stuff that wakes you up at 3 AM - we set it up right the first time.
Money Management
We build a simple, construction-friendly system to help you:
-
Track Money coming in and going out
-
Stay Organized
-
Invoice Consistently
-
Understand Basic Profitability
-
Separate Business and Personal Finances
Practical Training
We walk you through:
-
How to Track Income and Expenses
-
Calculating Overhead
-
Negotiating Payment TermsÂ
-
Common Mistakes to Avoid
-
How to keep your Records Organized
Add-Ons
If you want more structure from day one, we can add:

-
Estimate & Invoice Templates — so you're not reinventing the wheelÂ
-
Job Folder Structure Setup — Google Drive organized so nothing gets lostÂ
-
Starter Job Costing Sheet — so you can track profitability by job
-
Simple Workflow Tracker — estimate → approved → completed → invoiced → paidÂ

These tie directly into bigger systems later. So you're not learning twice.
Before LyonBuilt:

-
You're mixing personal and business money
-
You don't know if jobs are profitable
-
Invoicing is inconsistent
-
You're stressed about taxes and compliance
-
You're working harder than you need to because systems are broken
Over the years, we’ve seen too many good contractors struggle because the business side was never set up properly.
The office side of construction matters just as much as the field work (even though crews often don't think so...LOL)
What This Actually Solves
After LyonBuilt:

-
Business and personal finances are separate (huge relief)
-
You can see basic profitability
-
Invoicing is consistent and systematic
-
You know what you owe for taxes
-
You have a foundation that scales as you grow
How This Works
Step 1: Quick Consultation (30 minutes)
We talk about:
-
Where you are right now
-
What's causing the most stress
-
What success looks like for you
-
What makes sense for your situation
No sales pitch. Just clarity on whether our Starter Package is the right move.
Â
Step 2: Formation & Setup (1–2 weeks)
We handle the business formation pieces. You handle what only you can handle (signing documents, opening the bank account, etc.).
Step 3: System Setup (1 week)
We get your tracking system built and ready. Charts of accounts set up. Templates created. Everything organized.
Step 4: Training Session (1–2 hours)
We walk through how to use everything. You ask questions. We make sure you're comfortable actually using the system.
Step 5: You're Set!!
You have a clean, functional business. No guessing. No chaos. Just structure that works.
Â
The Investment
Starter Package: $750+ (depending on complexity and add-ons)
If you add the optional components, or already have a few things setup, the cost may change. We discuss that upfront so there are no surprises.

You could hire a CPA or bookkeeper to do this, but:
-
They'll charge you $200+ an hour and make it more complicated than it needs to be
-
They don't understand construction workflows
-
They'll build something overly complex for where you actually are
-
They won't care if you really understand what you're doing
Â
With LyonBuilt:
-
You get someone who's been inside construction businesses
-
The setup is practical and built for how you really work
-
You actually understand what you're doing (not just "trust the accountant")
-
You pay a flat fee
